Mr. Trent R. Teyema (MFS, CFI, CISM, CRISC) is a dynamic and motivational senior executive with CSG Strategies, Inc. He is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in building “teams of teams” which operate in high-risk and complex environments. He has extensive experience in cyber, intelligence, counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism and criminal investigations. He is an internationally recognized subject matter expert in information security, physical security, incident response, risk management, digital forensics, and public policy.

Mr. Teyema is the Principal / President of CSG Strategies, Inc., a national security consultancy which specializes in of cyber, space, technology, and critical infrastructures through policy and the practice of threat and risk mitigation. Mr. Teyema has more than three decades in the field of cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.

He currently advises a pharmaceutical / bio- technology company developing the COVID-19 vaccine as their interim Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Previously, he was the Global Head of Cyber Threat Management for the Fortune 60 insurance company AIG, Inc. He led all cyber threat intelligence, cybersecurity engineering, vulnerability management, penetration testing, effectiveness testing, and red teaming for the global organization.

Mr. Teyema was recruited away from the FBI to be the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Parsons Corporation. As the CTO, he oversaw all technical aspects and intellectual property of the company. He established the Parsons Advanced Technology Office (ATO) to drive research and develop the origination and ideation of technologies to solve our customers’ most difficult problems. The ATO conducts research and development in the following areas:

Mr. Teyema created the Parsons Advanced Communities of Excellence (ACEs) program which consists of cross market subject matter experts who work as a team to solve our customers’ most difficult problems.

In 2018, Mr. Teyema retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Cyber Division as their Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Cyber Readiness. He established the Cyber Readiness Program at the FBI to ensure the mission readiness and transform the FBI’s approach to the cyber threat. Readiness places emphasis on identifying and managing risks to understand the threat to prepare for and prevent the next attack. Mr. Teyema directed the day to day operations of the FBI’s Cyber Division. He was responsible for the financial management, information security, physical security, logistics, data science, and training of the cyber workforce across 56 Field Offices, 9 Headquarters facilities, and 7 US Embassies. He directed the Chief Data Scientist, Chief Security Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief Risk and Ethics Officer, Financial Manager, Chief Training Officer, Human Resources Manager, and Facilities Manager for the Cyber Division. Specifically, he led the FBI’s Cyber training and certification program at three campuses (Chantilly, Linthicum, & Redstone Arsenal), and 75 Cyber Field Instructors.

During his 27-year investigative career, he served as the Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) of the Counterintelligence and Cyber Divisions for the Los Angeles Field Office. He was a Senior Supervisory Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) in the Inspection Division responsible for conducting audit, oversight, and risk assessments of all FBI Field Offices and Headquarters Divisions. During this assignment, Mr. Teyema was recognized as an expert in the After-Action Reviews of mass casualty/terrorist events, use of force, and homicide investigations.

Mr. Teyema was also the first Cyber Assistant Special Agentin-Charge (ASAC) at the Washington Field Office (WFO). In this role, he established WFO’s Cyber Branch, which was responsible for all cyber, intellectual property rights, and crimes against children investigations. He directed three digital forensics laboratories capable of processing any level of classification in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

Mr. Teyema was assigned to the White House under President George W. Bush (43), and again under President Barack Obama (44). In 2002, he led the transfer of the FBI’s National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC) to the newly created Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In 2008, Mr. Teyema directed “Enabler A” and “Initiative 5” for President Bush’s Comprehensive National Cyber Initiative (CNCI). In 2010, he served as the Director of Cybersecurity Policy on the National Security Staff, where he managed the US Government’s response to cyber incidents and the formulation and execution of cybersecurity policy.

Mr. Teyema established and directed the FBI’s National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF) which is one of the US Government’s seven cyber-security centers. The NCIJTF coordinates and investigates some of the most serious cyber threats to the national and economic security of the United States.

He received the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence in Technology Innovation in 2010 and was nominated for the award a second time, in 2013. Mr. Teyema is an FBI Certified Cyber Field Instructor (CFI) and an Adjunct Professor for the FBI Academy. He has taught and lectured extensively on incident response, information security, infrastructure protection, and digital forensics.

He has a Master of Forensic Science (MFS) from The George Washington University. He holds several professional certifications: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM); Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC); and a Leading Professional in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC).
